Students in grades K-12 are accommodated by Kenai Peninsula Borough Schools. The city and surrounding region offer many opportunities for recreational activities. Kenai’s Parks Department manages approximately 180 acres of land, including sport fields, parks, a tent campground, a recreation center and an ice rink. Cross-country skiers make use of the Kenai Nordic Trails, a system of trails running through wooded areas and over rolling hills. Adventure seekers have several park areas – such as Kenai National Wildlife Refuge – that maintain millions of acres of unspoiled wilderness. Popular activities include hiking, fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing and photography.
